Add a bit of flying fun to your play area with the Trackride without Platforms. A playground favorite, an overhead mounted handle slides across on a track that sends kids flying. Some kids will be able to use their height to push off of the ground. However, smaller children will learn to use the velocity from their legs to generate the momentum necessary to propel themselves forward. In either case, the power is generated mostly from the core while arm, back, and shoulder muscles are used to help the child hang on.
An often missed benefit of the track ride is that it encourages socialization. The track ride is a bit high for smaller children so they will require guardians or older children to help them get up on it. It also requires discussion and paying attention to create an order. Rarely do kids go both directions on the track ride. It isn't unusual to see a line on one side where the rider who just finished pushes the handle back to the other side for the next person in line. All of this requires children to talk and take turns.
For kids that want to create their own momentum, check out the Synchro Spinner.
