Head up, over, and around on the Everglade play structure. The spread out design on this structure guarantees that children will have plenty of space around them as play. Each activity is spaced out with ample space to keep playground collisions from happening. Starting at the Whistle, children can sound that play time has started. Immediately in front of them is the Overhead Wave Ladder. As they work their way across the bars, they'll see the Chinning Bars ahead. They can do some pull-ups or maybe just flip around the bar. As they move to the main structure, they'll have lots of options as to how to head upwards. They can use the Rock Climb, or maybe they'll head up the Curly Climber instead. For an even greater challenge, they can head up the Mountain Climb or the Firefighter Climb instead. For those that need the ultimate challenge, the Banister Bars are on one side. Children alternate hands while keeping their body weight off the ground to make their way up the parallel bars.
When choosing a playground it is important to consider where the components have come from. Conditioned wood or recycled metal posts are both opportunities to take part in environmental stewardship. Wood was once a staple of playground design, but as time has continued, it has become less common. But, wood and natural materials make for natural learning environments that can be important for children’s development. Several teaching methods use nature and natural tools as ways to reach children. On the other hand, the recycled metal used comes from items that would otherwise rust away in dumps. The recycled plastic comes from specifically milk jugs. As Americans, we tend to drink a large amount of milk every day. This results in millions of used milk contains every year. Even if the play set purchased only uses a few thousand of those milk jugs, its that many more that didn’t end up in a landfill. Your playground purchase can be part of the solution that limits waste.
