Give children a way to practice the days of the week and types of weather with the Weather Panel. The weather section is bored out into a fun umbrella shape that brightly colored weather pegs move along. Each peg bears the iconic design of the weather it represents. Rain is categorized in two ways with a water drop and a lightning bolt. The gray cloud is for cloudy weather. A bursting yellow sun represents sunny days. Finally, a snowflake on a blue background completes the set. To the left, a chart of "Today is" has a peg that can be moved to the different days of the week. Each day is spelled out and placed in order with Sunday first.
While some kids will spend time actively learning from the panel, others will make it a center to their imaginative play. The different shapes can slid into different spots or mixed up. The slider on the left for the days of the week, might get pulled around to different heights in a fun spaceship story. However, it still gives parents, teachers, and care givers an opportunity to teach them about weather even if they're not actively engaged.
